The Taxi Drivers in Cyprus strike with demands for real assistance from the government

On Tuesday, November 3, Cypriot cab drivers went on a day-long strike across the island, demanding that the government take action to help an industry severely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Association of Taxi Owners and Drivers wants the government to take “emergency and practical measures” to support its sector. According to them, cab drivers have suffered massively and irreparably in this economic situation.

“Actions and measures without content, with vague answers and empty promises without specific commitments will not be taken,” the strikers said.
