Cypriots will be offered another coronavirus vaccine

Cypriots will have a wider choice of COVID-19 vaccines in the coming days – as Acting Head of Pharmaceutical Services Helena Panayiotopoulou said, another vaccine, Johnson & Johnson, may be offered to islanders before the end of the week. Unlike its counterparts, its application means one injection instead of two.

Recall that to date the country has received 2,400 doses of the single-component vaccine. On 14 April they were mothballed pending the outcome of an EMA investigation launched after several cases of thrombosis following Johnson&Johnson vaccination in the USA. On 20 April, the agency said that the benefits of the shot outweighed the risk of potentially fatal blood clots in very rare cases.

A new supply of Johnson&Johnson is expected in Cyprus shortly.
