The Ministry of Health of Cyprus announced long-term measures to contain COVID-19

Minister of Health Constantinos Ioannou on Friday announced further measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including limiting the maximum number of people in private meetings.

The measures are designed for the long term and will remain in force until 15 January 2021.

A limit of 50 people at private meetings will remain in place until the beginning of next year. And all mass events – concerts, festivals and fairs – will still be banned.

Conferences, meetings, councils and other events of this kind are permitted provided that sanitary protocols are observed.

Restaurants can accommodate up to 150 people inside and 250 on outdoor terraces simultaneously.

The Minister said that 5,000 random tests were planned each week to monitor the epidemiological situation.

Also, due to the large number of confirmed cases of those arriving from abroad, all travelers are advised to re-test for COVID-19 seven days after arriving on the island, even if a negative result was initially obtained.
