The Cyprus Ministry of Health responded to several questions about the restrictive measures taken in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Many characterized these measures as contradictory and sometimes mutually exclusive.

When asked why shopping malls, department stores and other large stores are constantly open and restaurants close at 19:00, the department explained that in the shopping center people do not accumulate stably in one place, and move – in addition, the use of masks is mandatory there. Restaurants of WHO and ECDC were listed as places with increased risk of virus transmission.

The Ministry of Health commented on the introduction of curfew mode from 21:00 exactly: it was decided that by this time people will return from work. The agency specified that if it is necessary to walk the dog after 9 pm it is acceptable, as such walk will be limited to the area of residence.

Medical officials were also asked if it is possible to go to the airport after curfew to pick up or drive a friend or colleague. The Ministry of Health replied in the affirmative, because they will have a confirmation (ticket) with the time and date of departure.
