December 13 in Cyprus will decide the fate of coronavirus concessions for the holidays

On Tuesday, a record number of cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Cyprus – 318. This was stated by Petros Karayiannis, a member of the Coronavirus Advisory Committee, expressing concern about the recent increase in the number of cases. He noted that if the measures taken before December 13 do not bring results, the partial relaxation will be in question for Christmas and New Year holidays.

At the same time, the expert added that during the week there has been recorded an improvement in the epidemics in Limassol and Paphos, so it can be judged that in general there is benefit from the restrictions. He supposedly explained the increase in morbidity in recent days by the fact that some samples collected over the weekend were only processed by Tuesday.

Karayiannis once again emphasized the importance of people observing all self-defense measures, reminding about cold weather and closed spaces. According to him, using a mask indoors is the best prevention of coronavirus.
