The Agreement on Defense Cooperation between Cyprus and France entered into force

The agreement on cooperation in defense, signed in April 2017 between Cyprus and France, entered into force on August 1, writes Philenews on Thursday.

The new agreement expands the areas of cooperation and includes training and exchange of experience, including in the areas of energy security, maritime security, early warning, evacuation of citizens and crisis management.

The official statement stresses that this is particularly important in view of the fragile situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.

France is Cyprus’ second military partner and the island is a key base for French military operations in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
