On Meat Thursday in Limassol people were fined for barbecuing in public places

In Limassol today, the city’s traditional carnival kicked off on so-called ‘Meat Thursday’ – in honour of which the police were particularly keen to enforce the Ministry of Health regulations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Policemen have brought to administrative responsibility the owner of a cafe near Saripolu Square – the man was cooking meat at a barbecue in a public place, which is prohibited. The establishment on Anexarticias Street was also punished for a similar misdemeanour. The fines imposed in both cases amounted to 500 euros.
