At dawn today in Larnaca, two cars on Kalymnou Street caught fire while they were parked in the owner’s garage. However, the fire spread so much that it eventually engulfed six cars and a house, Reporter reports.
Firefighters received word of the fire around 4 a.m. Four crews immediately went to the scene, and in less than an hour the fire was extinguished. But the situation was greatly complicated by the fact that the owner of the cars was storing petroleum products in the garage. A fuel spill occurred and the fire spread from the garage to the house, causing significant damage. In addition, burning petroleum products flowed down the street and set fire to four other parked cars.
Causes of the fire are now being investigated by police.
