Employers in Cyprus must provide special areas for breastfeeding employees

On 29 July, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, Constantinos Ioannou approved a bill that provides the creation of special areas in the workplace for breastfeeding and/or decanting.

According to the document, an employer must provide a space where employees can safely breastfeed their babies.
Business centres will need to provide an easily accessible, well-lit and air-conditioned room. This space could be temporary, depending on whether breastfeeding women are currently in the workforce.

In department stores, shopping malls, etc., it is also envisaged to create a special area where women can breastfeed their babies.
