Cyprus comes out of lockdown: what will change in the coming weeks

In February, Cyprus begins a phased withdrawal from the January lockdown, which was declared due to a sharp increase in the incidence of coronavirus. Minister of Health Constantinos Ioannou has revealed what regime relaxations await Cypriots in the coming weeks.

From February 1, beauty salons, hairdressing salons and tattoo parlours will open in the country. Slowly the long-forgotten chance to visit will start to come back – but for the time being only for two and only to the first and second degree relatives. Up to half of the employees will be able to visit their workplaces (previously – no more than a quarter of the staff).

Shopping centres and non-food shops will be open again as of February 8. Attendance at church services – with a limit of 50 parishioners – will become available. Museums and historical monuments will reopen and bookmakers will be allowed in. Juniors and seniors will be allowed offline. The number of guests allowed in the house will increase to four, with close family ties between them no longer required.
