Cyprus collected two million euros in “coronavirus” fines

The Cypriot budget was replenished by almost two million euros of fines paid by citizens and companies for violations of quarantine measures, said Minister of Justice and Public Order Emili Yioliti.

In total, according to the head of the ministry, from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March until October 15, the authorities issued 13,330 fine receipts for various violations of decrees of the Ministry of Health. 6603 fines amounting to 1 997 875 euros were paid in the pre-trial procedure.

We remind that now the standard fine for individuals is 300 Euros – at the beginning of the pandemic it was 85 Euros, but it was revised and increased twice. Offending companies are penalized according to their scale.
