Coronavirus has shut down the north of Cyprus from the south

The North of Cyprus has announced stricter measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 – the updates include a ban on crossing the border between Cyprus and the unrecognized TRNC even for work.

The quarantine period for those entering the North, regardless of the planned length of stay, has been increased from 7 to 10 days, with a negative coronavirus test no older than three days notwithstanding.
From Dec. 15 to 25, those who live in the North and work in the South are prohibited from crossing the border – the measure also applies to cab drivers.

According to CNA, there are a number of exceptions: students; those in need of medical care; residents of the Tilliria region who use the checkpoint in Limnitis to access Nicosia.
