Another 24 illegal migrants came to Cyprus via Turkey

Last Saturday, the Cyprus police detained and sent another batch of migrants arriving by sea to the refugee reception center in Kokkinotrimithia. Recall that on Tuesday, law enforcement officers in Kato Pyrgos caught a group of 18 illegal immigrants.

This time 24 people were detained – 16 men, three women and five children, all from Syria. Around midnight, they got off the boat that came from the Turkish port of Mersin, near Paphos.

Before being sent to the refugee camp, the migrants underwent a medical examination and identification with the police. It was stressed that all necessary measures would be taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
