The world is going through a critical phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the next few months the situation with coronavirus will be very difficult – said the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Melita Vuinovich.
“From a global perspective, we are at a critical stage of the pandemic, especially in the northern hemisphere. The next few months will be very hard and some countries are in a difficult situation,” she said.
Vuinovich stressed that although the incidence of coronavirus is increasing and the number of newly registered cases continues to increase, mortality remains stable.
Earlier Melita Vuinovich said that the world should learn to live with coronavirus, but be ready to introduce various restrictions. According to her, the spread of the pandemic in Europe has been contained thanks to restrictive measures, but we can’t talk about winning yet.
Head of WHO European Department Hans Kluge, in his turn, said that the Europeans had spent a lot of efforts to fight COVID-19 and it tired them. He noted that in such situation it is easy to feel tired and feel apathetic and demotivated.
