The WHO has predicted the future of the coronavirus. According to Professor David Heymann, head of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on Infectious Hazards, covid will become endemic – even after vaccines are available – and people will learn to live alongside it.
“The world had hoped to develop population immunity to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. But people have misunderstood the concept of population immunity, Heymann believes. – It looks like COVID-19’s destiny is to become endemic, just like the other four human coronaviruses. It will continue to mutate as it multiplies in human cells, especially in areas of higher intake.”
According to the professor, doctors have the tools to save lives, which, combined with good public health, will allow society to learn to coexist with the coronavirus.
