In the early hours of December 23, the Cypriot coast guard arrested two Turkish citizens who had taken 13 refugees from Syria to the village of Limnitis in the occupied part of the island.

According to SigmaLive, the Turks’ boat was blocked in the Gulf of Morphou by a maritime police boat as it was returning back to Turkey after disembarking the illegals. The boat was impounded, its owners arrested and sent for questioning.

The 13 refugees who successfully crossed the buffer zone included six men, three women and four children, one of them an infant. After undergoing the necessary formalities, including a medical examination, they will be sent to the camp in Kokkinotrimithia.
