Transition period in air traffic in Cyprus postponed by half a month

Due to the lockdown imposed in Cyprus until the end of January, it was necessary to postpone the planned start of the transition period in air traffic. According to the Cypriot Ministry of Transport, instead of January 15 it will begin on February 1.

Recall that it is a question of implementing last year’s decision of the authorities to change the classification of countries in the epidemiological ranking. Instead of a letter code (groups A, B, C) the color code will be introduced. All the countries of European Union will be included into the “green” zone; the states of European zone as well as Switzerland and Great Britain will be included into the “orange” zone; the third countries from the list of European Council will be included into the “red” zone; finally, Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Israel, Lebanon, UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will be included into the “gray” zone.

Then, presumably from March 1, the main period of restructuring will begin. Countries from the “gray” category will be transferred to the “red” – which, in particular, means that tourists from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine will be able to rest in Cyprus, provided two PCR-tests for coronavirus: before you arrive and after it.

The Ministry of Transport notes that the postponement of the transition period to February 1 may not be the final decision – it all depends on whether the lockdown will bring the desired results. Otherwise, the authorities will be forced to extend it – accordingly, new changes in the existing plans will follow.
