The number of tourists who arrived in Cyprus in September reached 87,334 people compared to 524,707 a year earlier – this is 83.4% less, according to the statistical agency CY STAT. From January to September 2020, the total number of tourists amounted to 512,184 people, and for the same period a year earlier – 3,260,546.
In March 2020, as part of measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in Cyprus introduced a ban on entry into the country until August 6. Starting from September 6, the restrictions on travel to Cyprus were gradually eased. This allowed citizens of individual states to visit the country depending on its position in the lists of the Ministry of Health based on epidemiological risk assessment.
