Another 21 migrants, who came to Cyprus illegally, were detained by the police – we remind you that only for the last five days it is the third group of refugees, which is caught by law enforcement officers on the territory of the country.
A new boat with illegal migrants from Syria arrived on the island shortly after midnight on Monday, landing 19 men and two women on the coast between the villages of Pomos and Pachyammos. The refugees told the policemen who detained them that they had paid the smugglers $2,000 each and were waiting for “their flight” to Turkey for several days.
The Syrians were taken to the police station – then, after completing all the formalities, they will be sent to a refugee camp in the village of Kokkinotrimithia near Nicosia.
Earlier in the past few days, Cypriot law enforcers detained two other groups of Syrian illegals who had arrived at the island by sea – 18 and 24 people.
