The historic Berengaria Hotel will be restored and revived in Cyprus

Prime Property Group in collaboration with one of the major architectural firms of Nicosia is preparing a phased plan for the revitalization of the famous hotel Berengaria in the capital. Executive Director Lefteris Constantinou promised to treat the landmark with the utmost respect: reconstruction and, if necessary, additional construction will preserve the historical appearance of the hotel as much as possible.

Constantinou told that the experts began their work three weeks ago and must finish it within a year. The expertise will show, in particular, whether it will be necessary to partially demolish the hotel and recreate a part of the building from scratch or whether restoration works will be enough. Accordingly, the cost of the project also depends on this decision – now it is estimated in the tens of millions of euros, but so far it is difficult to name a more exact figure.

“As soon as we prepare the expertise and evaluation, we will start implementing our plans to revive the hotel with full respect for both the historical monument itself and the surrounding area on which it was built,” – said Constantinou, stressing that the residential buildings to be built in the area around the hotel will receive an authentic design.

Hotel Berengaria opened in 1931 and closed in 1984. It is located on a hill near Prodromou Square. The complex includes three buildings with a total area of about 5,000 square meters: the hotel itself with 80 rooms, an administrative building and a restaurant. The land acquired by Prime Property Group covers an area of 26,520 square meters.
