Today, new, stricter measures against the spread of COVID-19 have entered into force in Cyprus. The greatest toughening of prohibitions and restrictions against coronavirus has affected Paphos and Limassol – in fact, the only ones who will be bypassed by the measures will be workers in the “basic services” sector. The Cyprus Ministry of Health explains who will be included in this list.
According to the relevant republican law, “necessary” are services whose interruption may endanger the life, personal safety or health of the entire population or part of it.
Thus, employees of “basic services” are those who work for:
1) Ensuring an uninterrupted power supply (power plants, DAC).
2) Provision of water supply (desalination plants, water supply stations).
3) public telecommunications (CYTA and Radio Cyprus).
4) safe operation of aviation and air traffic control (basic services of airports, maintenance and repair services of airlines).
5) functioning of medical institutions (public and private hospitals, clinics, medical and diagnostic centers).
6) functioning of law enforcement agencies and penitentiary system institutions.
7) repair or maintenance of equipment and electromechanical installations of the National Guard and police, including the fire department.
8) safe operation of port traffic.
We would like to remind you that all others in Paphos and Limassol are subject to strict restrictions from now on.
In particular, from 12 to 30 November will be prohibited to move on the streets from 20:00 to 5:00, as well as communication with other cities of Cyprus. High school and college students are transferred to online training, cultural institutions and shopping centers are suspended, beauty salons, hairdressers, gyms and casinos are closed. In public places you can stay together for a maximum of two, and in houses and apartments – to gather up to 10 people.
