Another 18 Syrian refugees came to Cyprus across the Green Line

Another group of refugees arrived in Cyprus – on the night of Wednesday to Thursday 18 young men were caught by the police in the coastal area of Strandzha in Kato Pyrgos.

According to police information, 18 refugees aged 18 to 30 years smuggled by boat to the village of Limnitis in the occupied territories of Cyprus. Then they crossed the “Green Line” on foot and found themselves in the village of Kato Pyrgos.

The detained Syrians will be tested for COVID-19 and then taken to a tent camp in the village of Kokkinotrimithia and quarantined for 14 days.

Recall that migrants (mainly from Syria) arrive in Cyprus both by sea and by land – through the buffer zone, with the tacit approval of the authorities of the not internationally recognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
