Special refrigerators for COVID-19 vaccine arrived to Cyprus

Two special cold storage units for Pfizer/BioNTech anti-coronavirus vaccine arrived in the port of Limassol last weekend from France. Each of the units is designed for 130,000 doses to be stored at -75 degrees.

The cost of one such refrigerator is 15,000 euros. It is reported that at the beginning of the week the units will arrive at their permanent location – the warehouse of pharmaceutical service at the Ministry of Health in Nicosia.

Recall that Cyprus will receive 391,637 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. The first batch of 48,955 doses will arrive in the country before the end of the year, the last is expected in the third quarter of 2021. The official start of vaccination in Cyprus is December 27, among the first to be vaccinated were the country’s President Nicos Anastasiades and Archbishop Chrysostomos II.
