Cyprus schools can close for Christmas vacations earlier than usual – the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection in schools has caused dissatisfaction of both parents and teachers.
According to the Ministry of Health, schools and kindergartens account for 18% of COVID-19 infections, with no positive dynamics, i.e. a decrease in the incidence over time. There are concerns that this undesirable stability may further worsen the situation in educational institutions, plus students will carry the virus home.
In this regard, there are proposals to close schools on vacation before the traditional date of December 23 – presumably, already from the 14th. The final decision in this regard remains with the government of Cyprus.
