Russia and Cyprus to sign new tax agreement during Lavrov’s visit to Cyprus

Tomorrow, September 8, President of the Republic of Nicos Anastasiades will host Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov at the Presidential Palace. Then Nicos Anastasiades will present Sergey Lavrov with the Grand Cross of the Order of Macarios III.

The meeting will be held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the visit, the Russian Foreign Minister will also meet with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulidis and the ministers will discuss the full range of bilateral relations between Cyprus and Russia, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and EU-Russia relations.

Also, a double tax treaty will be signed between the Republic of Cyprus and the Russian Federation by the Minister of Finance Konstantinos Petrides and the Russian Deputy Minister of Finance Alexei Sazanov.

On August 10, Russia agreed with Cyprus to sign a new Co-IDN in terms of increasing tax up to 15% on dividends and interest.

The Protocol shall enter into force on January 1, 2021.
