Today the updated epidemiological rating of the countries of the world comes into force in Cyprus. Compared to the previous one, there is only one positive change: from the point of view of Cypriot epidemiologists, Iceland has become safer – it was moved from group C to B.
In contrast, Japan and South Korea were downgraded from the most coronavirus-free group A to group B.
At the same time, Group B itself suffered heavy losses: as many as 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, moved down to Group C.
With all the changes, Group A now includes Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand. Passengers from there can enter Cyprus unhindered and even without confirmation of negative covid status. However, they may still be required to undergo a test upon arrival – at government expense.
Group B includes: from EU countries – Germany, Greece and Finland; from Schengen countries – Norway and Iceland, from other countries – Japan, China, South Korea and Rwanda.
As a reminder, visitors arriving in Cyprus from these countries must have a recent (not older than 72 hours) negative test for coronavirus.
Exceptions to the rule: to travel to Cyprus without an exit test may be citizens of the country, foreigners with residence permits, diplomats and visitors from countries where it is impossible to pass the test. But they have to take it at their own expense upon arrival and wait for the results in quarantine.
Group C includes all other countries.
Of these countries may come to Cyprus only citizens and residence permit holders, diplomatic staff and those who have received special permission of the Cyprus Ministry of Interior. Upon arrival they will have to undergo a two-week quarantine.
