New changes in the list of allowed countries for entry into Cyprus

Yesterday, the Cyprus Ministry of Health once again updated the list of allowed entry countries. It will come into force on September 18.

Due to the worsening epidemiological situation, Estonia has been moved from A to B category. Georgia is moving from A to B category. Hungary, which has closed its borders for a month, is changing from Category B to Category C. The Czech Republic is changing from Category B to Category C.

Two countries that have shown positive dynamics are also changing their ranking, this is Australia, it will move from B to A. And Rwanda, the country will move from C to B.

So, from September 18, they will enter the category A:

EU member states:

  1. Germany
  2. Latvia
  3. Lithuania
  4. Finland

Members of the Schengen area:

  1. Norway

Third countries:

  1. Australia
  2. Canada
  3. New Zealand
  4. South Korea
  5. Thailand

Passengers coming from category A countries are not required to submit a negative COVID-19 test.

Category B will be included:

EU Member States:

  1. Austria
  2. Belgium
  3. Denmark
  4. Greece
  5. Estonia
  6. Ireland
  7. Italy
  8. Poland
  9. Portugal
  10. Sweden
  11. Slovakia
  12. Slovenia

as well as Great Britain

Members of the Schengen area:

  1. Switzerland
  2. Iceland
  3. Liechtenstein

Small states:

  1. Vatican
  2. San Marino

Third countries:

  1. Uruguay
  2. China (including Hong Kong)
  3. Japan
  4. Georgia
  5. Rwanda

Passengers arriving from B-category countries must undergo a laboratory examination at least 72 hours before departure and have a certificate confirming a negative COVID-19 test.

Passengers from B Category countries, who may undergo testing upon arrival in Cyprus:
a) Cypriot citizens and their family members (their foreign spouses, minor children and their parents),
b) all legally residing in the Republic,
c) persons entitled under the Vienna Convention (diplomats and consuls)
e) persons, regardless of nationality, whose country of residence does not provide laboratory test services for coronavirus.

High-risk countries classified as category C:

EU member states:

  1. Bulgaria
  2. France
  3. Croatia
  4. Luxembourg
  5. Romania
  6. Spain
  7. Malta
  8. The Netherlands
  9. Hungary
  10. Czech Republic

Small states:

  1. Andorra
  2. Monaco

Third countries:

  1. Algeria
  2. Serbia
  3. Morocco
  4. Montenegro
  5. Tunisia

This category also includes those countries that are not included in categories A or B.

Entry into Cyprus is allowed only to certain categories of citizens who have the right to enter the Republic (citizens and residents of Cyprus – F/LTRP visas, workers and visitors pink slips, yellow slip, special permits for close relatives).

All those arriving from Category C countries must undergo a COVID-19 test twice – 72 hours before departure or upon arrival at the airport of Cyprus (choice), as well as upon completion of the mandatory 14-day self-isolation. Quarantine can be considered completed if both tests have a negative result. The data of the repeated laboratory test should be sent to [email protected].
