Most heads of state congratulated Cyprus on Independence Day

Yesterday the Republic of Cyprus celebrated one of the most important state holidays – Independence Day. The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades received many official congratulations from foreign leaders.

UN Secretary General António Guterres was one of the first who sent a congratulatory letter on Independence Day.

Also, according to the press service director of President Viktoras Papadopoulos, the President received letters from the heads of permanent members of the UN Security Council, from U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, Chinese President Xi Jinping and British Queen Elizabeth.

Congratulatory letters were also sent by King Felipe VI of Spain, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany, President Sergio Mattarella of Italy, President Abdul-Fattah Khalil Al-Sisi of Egypt, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine and other heads of state.
