Cyprus remains in the red zone of the COVID-19 pandemic for now, but there is a partial improvement in the epidemiological outlook – according to Constantinos Ioannou, head of the Ministry of Health, this reflects the effectiveness of the additional restrictions undertaken in December.

According to the COVID-19 Advisory Scientific Committee, the downward trend in epidemiological rates continues, but they are still at high levels for Cyprus. But there are signs that the uncontrolled spread of the virus has been contained.

The head of the committee, Dr. Konstantinos Tsiutis, in turn, clarified to CNA that it was too early to give a definitively positive assessment of the situation – the burden on Cypriot hospitals was still too great.
