Last night in Zakaki, emergency services had to respond to a fire at a private home owned by a 46-year-old man. The burner managed to cope with the fire on his own, but an examination of the scene showed that there had been arson.
According to the police, the porch of the building caught fire at about 3 a.m. The owner of the house managed to put out the flames before the firefighters arrived – the fire had managed to damage the garden furniture and flower pots. The police found traces of a flammable substance at the scene and believe that unknown perpetrators had set the fire under cover of darkness.
The car, which was parked outdoors, had also been treated with combustible material, but the arsonists did not have time to throw a match. The investigation continues.
