The Cypriot Ministry of Education has warned that exams in the country’s public schools this year will be held in June. The reason for the postponement was not the COVID-19 pandemic, but the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 30.
Meanwhile, some 34,000 schoolchildren in Cyprus remain in distance learning – pupils from grammar schools (classes 7-9) and lyceums (classes 10 and 11). It is assumed that they will return to their desks no earlier than the next step in the gradual relaxation of quarantine measures.
But when exactly this step will happen is still an open question: epidemiologists are discussing two likely dates – March 1 and 15.
