Cyprus Tourism Association: 2021 will be even worse than 2020

The year 2021 will be even more of a failure for tourism in Cyprus than the year 2020 – this opinion was expressed by the president of the Cyprus Tourism Association Christos Asprou at a recent meeting with representatives of the industry.

Cyprus tourism will be able to return to pre-crisis figures only in 2024, according to participants Philenews. A year earlier the country had at least some hotel reservations from foreign tourists, and in 2021 they are not. It is not clear when the hotels will open and if they will open at all. As of today only tour operators from Israel have stated their intention to work with Cyprus. Russia and Britain remain under great question, there is no clarity about the other European countries.

It is too early to make predictions for 2022, but even two missed seasons will definitely require a lot of effort, patience and money for the industry to at least recover to pre-pandemic levels, let alone make progress.
