Cyprus found itself on the third line of the European countries’ rating for energy costs, compiled by SaveOnEnergy.
Analysts have calculated that the country’s citizens spend about 9.6% of their annual income on electricity bills. Cypriots consume 130.25 euros a month, or an average of 1563 euros a year – and the reason for these high rates is not that people do not know how to rationally use energy resources, but in the inflated price.
Norway has the highest electricity bills, at 2,467 euros per year and 205.58 euros per month. The maximum consumption is also recorded here: on average 14 181 kWh per year per household. Sweden is in second place with 1767 euros for electricity per year and 147.25 euros per month.
The most modest bills for light are in Bulgaria: 306 euros per year and 25.50 – a month. This is partly due to the lowest cost of electricity per kWh in Europe – only 0.096 euros.
