On Tuesday, December 15, representatives of the Cypriot Ministry of Health presented at a press conference the program of vaccination of the population against coronavirus.
It is assumed that there will be 38 vaccination centers in Cyprus, each with one to three jobs for medical professionals. Their working hours will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (in urgent cases, until 7 p.m.). There will also be formed mobile teams to vaccinate those who can’t move around on their own, for example, the residents of nursing homes.
As early as December 19, two special refrigerated units will arrive in Cyprus – vaccines from Pfizer will be stored at -75 degrees. Portable refrigerators will be purchased for its delivery to vaccination centers.
The Ministry of Health will launch a website where Cypriots will be able to apply for vaccination, indicating in which center they would feel more comfortable to undergo the procedure. A program will then select those applicants who should be vaccinated first, based on the health status and age of the applicants. Citizens will be vaccinated according to the schedule they receive – everyone will receive an SMS with the exact time when they should visit the vaccination center. The Pfizer vaccine is administered in two stages, and after the second stage a person will be given a certificate of immunity.
The first to be vaccinated will be medics (especially those who come into contact with those infected with coronavirus) and those whose work is connected with serving large numbers of people. Vaccination of the general population will begin in the spring of 2021.
