Cyprus Airways' route Larnaca - Moscow - Larnaca turned into Moscow - Larnaca

Cyprus Airways’ route “Larnaca – Moscow – Larnaca” turned into “Moscow – Larnaca”

Cyprus Airways stated that weekly flights on the direction Larnaca – Moscow are cancelled, and named the reason: restrictions on the part of Russia. The Carrier believes that this is discrimination on the part of the Russian authorities.

“We are extremely disappointed with the discrimination and unfair treatment by the Russian authorities against Cyprus Airways, given that two Russian air carriers have recently started operating on the Moscow – Larnaca – Moscow route without such restrictions,” said the Chief Operating Officer of the company, Yorgos Mavrokostas. He noted that this policy violates the principle of equal treatment enshrined in the bilateral agreement on air traffic between Cyprus and Russia. The company counts on the assistance of the Cypriot government in protecting fair and equal opportunities for air carriers of each of the parties.

Once the issue is clarified, Cyprus Airways will officially announce the resumption of ticket sales on the Larnaca – Moscow route. Flights on the return route will be operated as normal and tickets are available on the airline’s website.

Recall that it was previously reported that the first flight of Cyprus Airways flew to Russia without passengers, because shortly before departure Moscow did not give permission for their disembarkation.
