Cypriot unemployed will be sent to check workers for tests and masks

Cypriots officially registered as unemployed will be used to check compliance with the anti-covid measures in private companies and enterprises – whether all employees have passed rapid tests for covid in time, whether they wear masks, whether they maintain social distance.

The Cypriot authorities intend to increase the number of inspections of private businesses in the near future – recall that since February 8 the country introduced a package of relaxation of restrictive measures on the coronavirus. Now enterprises can take up to half of their staff to offices, but employees must have fresh certificates for passing rapid tests for covid. In addition, the mask mode and distance must be observed at work.

To control all these points and, in parallel, to somewhat reduce the tensions in the employment market, it was decided to offer Cypriots who are registered at the labor exchange, temporary jobs as inspectors. This issue will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval at the next meeting.
