Cypriot authorities paid compensation to 92 families affected by tornado

92 families affected by the recent tornado in the villages of Nikitari, Astromeritis, Potami and Vizakia have received financial compensation from the Cypriot authorities, Interior Minister Nikos Nouris announced.

The official stressed that thanks to the concerted efforts of employees of his department, the administration of Nicosia and the Civil Defense were able to organize payment of benefits to victims of tornadoes so quickly, in time for Christmas.

Recall, in mid-December, two tornadoes struck the island. Several villages were affected by the onslaught – the wind broke electrical wires, damaged fronts and roofs of houses. The authorities allocated 550,000 euros to support the victims.
