Coronavirus dropped Cyprus tourism revenues by 1.62 billion euros

Revenue from tourism in Cyprus in the first eight months of 2020 fell by 1.62 billion euros compared to the same period in 2019 – the fault of the restrictive measures to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

For the period from January to August 2020, revenues from tourism are estimated at 235.6 million euros – compared with 1.859 billion euros for the same period in 2019. The difference is 87.3 percent.

A survey of travellers, conducted by the Statistics Service of Cyprus, showed: in August 2020, revenues from tourism reached 71.1 million euros – compared with 431.6 million a year earlier, a decrease of 83.5%.
