China links the new coronavirus outbreak to European salmon

Due to a new outbreak of coronavirus in its capital, China has stopped importing seafood. The Chinese link this event to the food market, where the virus was found on a fish chopping board. In the past few days, almost 100 new cases have been detected in the area where the market is located.

So far, there is no official version of where the harmful infection originated, but Zeng Guang, a senior expert with the National Health Commission, has urged Beijing residents not to eat raw salmon or buy imported seafood. After that, all salmon disappeared from the shelves in most major cities.

According to Reuters, China has completely stopped buying salmon in Europe.

This decision – to abandon the purchase of fish and seafood from European suppliers hit seafood exporters hard. Which because of the pandemic lost virtually 30% of revenues, writes Bloomberg.

But the situation turned out to be in the hands of pork producers, writes Bloomberg – shares of Chinese meat producers on the background of this information has grown.
