Children’s ombudsman: rapid covid tests do not violate the rights of children

Compulsory rapid tests for high school students introduced in Cyprus do not violate the rights of schoolchildren to integrity and education, according to the Commissioner for the Protection of Children’s Rights Despo Mihailidou.

Earlier, the parents of schoolchildren had expressed the opposite opinion. As a reminder, coronavirus tests for returning students from voluntary classes have been made compulsory, and studying offline from next week will only be possible if the result is negative.

A bit of statistics: on 4 March, 42 students and staff in Cypriot lyceums and public schools were found to be infected with covid.
