Bubonic plague recorded in China

The third level of the epidemiological threat was reported by the Chinese authorities.
This is due to the fact that in the city of Bayan-Nur in Inner Mongolia (Chinese Autonomous Region) confirmed bubonic plague among local pastoralists.

A few days ago, two people were already hospitalized in Western Mongolia, from an area bordering the Russian Altai Republic.

According to the authorities, both men are in critical condition. It turned out that at the time of the first symptoms of the disease they had been in contact with more than 60 people. At present, all potentially infected people are isolated and the city is closed for quarantine. All those who are ill will be given antibacterial therapy.

Bubonic plague can kill an adult within two days unless the necessary treatment is started.

Often, bubonic plague spreads through fleas living on Mongol marmots tarbagans. It can also be infected by eating raw meat of marmots, which is so far, despite the prohibitions, is regularly done by local people. Therefore, such cases of infestation occur periodically. Epidemiologists assure that there is no danger of this infection spreading.
