An 87-year-old Limassol resident died while swimming in the sea
On Monday, an elderly woman was seen unconscious in the water on one of the popular beaches of Limassol.
According to media reports, 87-year-old Greek Cypriot woman was seen by rescue workers at 7:40 am in the water, 50 meters from the shore. On a jet ski they took her to the beach and tried to resuscitate her, but unsuccessfully.
After 15 minutes, the ambulance arrived and took the elderly woman to the emergency department of the Limassol Hospital. The doctors on duty there stated that she was dead.
A week ago, another elderly woman was seen unconscious in the same place. How much time she spent in the water is unknown.
The rescuers asked the elderly Cypriots in the nets not to swim far from the shore.
