A traditional dessert wine, also known as a liqueur wine, with history dating back to the 12th century and the first to be recognized as a product of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
Made from the finest Mavro (50%) and Xinisteri (50%) grapes, both full bodied and rich in taste and aroma, Alasia Commandaria from LOEL, has been relaunched with a new look in 2 varieties, the «Classic 2017» in the <Aged> category and the «Vintage 2005» in the <Exceptionally Aged> category.
Both wines are sweet and well balanced, with aromas of raisins, carob, dried fruits, honey and oak. Enjoy them as an aperitif or after dinner and as an accompaniment to sweets and chocolate.
Commandaria is deeply rooted in the history of wine making of the Limassol area, with its name linking directly to the areas in which its grapes are grown and production takes place. It is without a doubt an ambassador of Cypriot wines.
Cyprus is one of the oldest wine making countries in the world, with archaeological evidence suggesting that wine has been made here for more than 5000 years. The first sweet wine that became known as ‘Cyprus Nama’ and was said to be used in the ceremonies worshipping the goddess Aphrodite. This was the beginning of the creation of Commandaria. Today, LOEL winery, continues to build on this heritage, producing the Alasia Commandaria range and many other wines.
