Air traffic with Northern Cyprus is currently suspended

Flights to the occupied territory of Cyprus will be temporarily suspended due to lack of quarantine facilities for arriving passengers. This was reported by the news portal Yeni Duzen.

This is due to the fact that the authorities of Northern Cyprus require that people arriving from countries of category B to be quarantined for seven days, and those arriving from countries of category C – for 14 days.

If a passenger’s coronavirus test is positive, he must also be quarantined. Plus, on the average 10-15 people with whom the patient had contact with go to quarantine.

Now all passengers from groups B and C, and also sick people, are placed in hotels.
And at the moment there are from 400 to 450 people.

In recent days on the occupied part of the island there has been a sharp increase in cases of coronavirus.

On Tuesday, 38 new cases were announced, the highest daily rate to date, 15 of which are local residents, and 19 are contacts of people who have already had a positive test result and are under quarantine. The rest are those who came from abroad.

For this reason, it was decided to temporarily suspend incoming flights to the territory of TRNC. It should come into force from Wednesday evening and for the time being for an indefinite period.
