In the vicinity of Paphos, a man who fell off his bicycle was seriously injured the day before – the doctors considered his condition so bad that they sent the patient for treatment not to the local hospital, but to the capital.
A 55-year-old man and his comrade were riding mountain bikes. Already when they were returning from a bike ride to their cars, he lost control, fell off the bike and hit his head hard. The ambulance took him to Paphos General Hospital, where the patient was examined and found to have a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Given the severity of the patient’s condition, it was decided to send him to Nicosia for treatment.
At the time of the accident, the victim was wearing a protective helmet, which partially absorbed the blow, the police said.
