In December will play a tender for the construction of the ferry crossing Greece – Cyprus

Cyprus will open a tender for construction of a sea passenger line with Greece in early December. According to the CNA, ferries on it should start running in the summer of 2021.

According to the Deputy Minister of Shipping Vasilis Demetriadis, the route will connect the ports of Limassol and Larnaca with the Greek port of Piraeus. It is assumed that the ferry service will be carried out once a week from May to September and once every two weeks – from October to April. The duration of the crossing will be about 30 hours, the maximum cost of the ticket – 50 euros one way and 80 – back and forth.

Recall that the ferry service between Greece and Cyprus was canceled in 2000 due to the reduction of prices for air tickets. The resumption was possible because the General Directorate for Competition of the European Commission approved state aid of up to 6 million euros per year.
