Cyprus continues to set weather records: in October in several areas of the island were recorded unusually high maximum temperatures, reports the Department of Meteorology. Forecasters note that abnormally hot October followed the equally atypically hot July, August and September.
In general, the period from July to October was the warmest for the island since at least 1983. Directly in October, several weather stations in Cyprus registered maximum daily temperatures, record high for this time of year.
Thus, at Atalassa station on October 7th 40.4° C was recorded – this is the highest figure for the whole period of station operation. On October 6 and 7 38,7° were registered at Atienou station – also for the first time. Similar “debuts” showed stations of Prodromos Forest College (31,2°, October 7) and Larnaca airport (34,8°, October 9).
