There is a lot of dust in the air again in Cyprus. According to measurements made by the stations of the Air Quality Monitoring Network of the Department of Labor Inspection, today, September 4, 2020, there is a high concentration of dust in the air.

The population, and especially vulnerable groups (children, the sick and elderly) are not encouraged to stay outdoors for long periods until the dust concentration is normal.

Small size of dust particles can often cause even a healthy person to cough, which can easily pass into bronchitis and even asthma.

Today, according to the readings at 7:00 am, the following situation was noted in the cities:
Nicosia: 48 mcg/m3
Limassol: 61 µg/m3
Larnaca: 60 µg/m3
Paphos: 100 mkg/m3
Paralimni: 53 µg/m3
Ziggy: 42 µg/m3
Aya-Marina Xiliatu: 49 mcg/m3

The definition of “dust” includes particulate matter with a diameter less than 10 µm (PM10) in air. According to the legislation, their limit value should not exceed the average daily concentration of 50 µg/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter).
