Interesting research data was published today by the Cyprus edition of Philenews. According to statistics, in 2018, almost 5 out of 10 employees of public organizations and services in Cyprus were absent from work due to illness for more than seven days.
These data show that the large number of sick leave days for government employees continues to be a problem for Cyprus.
Data from the Department of Public Administration and Personnel on how long employees of public institutions were absent due to sickness are as follows:
-22.51% of public servants were absent for 1 to 6 days;
-16.35% from 7 to 13 days;
-9.75% from 14 to 20 days;
-6.02% from 21 to 27 days;
-4.15% of employees of ministries and independent services were absent from 28 to 34 days;
-2.84% from 35 to 41 days;
-2.93% from 42 days to 2 months;
-4.15% of civil servants were absent from 2 to 6 months;
Very indicative were the statistics of those organizations where employees were absent from work due to illness:
-11.47% of employees of the Ministry of Defense;
-15.80% in the Ministry of Agriculture;
-11% in the Ministry of Justice;
-19.58% in the Ministry of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism;
-17.18% in the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Social Insurance;
-6.97% in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
-17.51% in the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
-18.86% in the Ministry of Finance;
-19.61% of the Ministry of Education and Culture staff;
-13.88% in the Ministry of Transport;
-16.21% in the Ministry of Health;
-13.99% in the State Department of Shipping;
-19.73% of employees of independent services.
