2363 fines for the first 5 days, after a significant tariff increase

During the first five days since the increase in road fines in the Republic of Cyprus, 2363 traffic violations were recorded.

Cyprus police reported 2363 traffic violations from Thursday, October 1 to the morning of Monday, October 5.

The increase of fines for motorists in Cyprus are part of new tough measures to improve the situation on the roads of Cyprus.

It is expected that higher tariffs will bring results and reduce the number of deaths and injuries on the roads of the island.

According to Eurostat, in 2019 as a result of road accidents in Cyprus 48 people died (67 per million inhabitants). This figure is higher than the EU average (51 deaths per million).
